KIRKLAND LAKE, ON, July 9 /CNW/ - RJK Explorations Ltd. (RJX.A: TSXV) ("RJK") announces that it has begun to source out and arrange for an oil & gas drilling rig that would be capable of drilling several wells at its Sept.-Iles permits this year. Sept.-Iles is where gas was accidentally discovered in 1956 while drilling a water well. The Company intends to drill these wells as soon as the rig is available and the permits are in place.
RJK is also releasing a new map showing three of its shale gas & oil permit groups in the Lower St. Lawrence River area of Quebec announced in the news release of June 16, 2008 as being located in close proximity to those held by J.A.G. Ltee (Les Mines) and Mundiregina Resources Canada Inc. in the Saguenay Graben. The Lac St. Jean Permits cover an area that includes a well from 1945 and the Malbaie Permit covers the eastern edge of an interesting geological formation.

The group of most interest to RJK, the Saguenay Permits, cover entirely a large isolated geological formation as shown on the Geological Map of Quebec. This geological formation only appears on the southwest side of Lac St. Jean where oil & gas are present; at the St. Lawrence River near Malbaie; and as some of the more prospective horizons for oil and gas in the St. Lawrence Lowlands area - being the Middle Ordovician, which is Limestone and shale (Trenton Group); dolostone, limestone and sandstone (Black River Group); limestone, shale and sandstone (Chazy Group).
RJK Explorations Ltd. is also pleased to announce that Geoffrey C. Chase has agreed to become the first member of a Petroleum Advisory Panel that RJK is creating in order to advance its gas and oil projects. Mr. Chase is a graduate of Queen's University in Applied Science. He has over 40 years of oil and gas engineering and management experience in Canada and overseas. He held the position of Senior Vice President of Business Development at Ranger Oil Ltd. before retirement, and also was chairman of a large, privately-held gas marketing firm until 1994. He is currently on the Board of a mid-sized international oil and gas firm where he is Chairman of the Reserves Committee.
