FORBIDDEN TECHNOLOGIES PLC
Elsevier Health Sciences to use video compression technology
Forbidden Technologies plc, which was established to develop technology for
video distribution over the internet, announces that the Health Sciences
International division of Elsevier Science (a leading medical publishing
group) is to use Forbidden Technologies plc's video compression technology to
enhance its internal management communication in early 2002.
Pre-recorded video will update staff in 22 countries on strategy and progress
via a corporate extra-net. Forbidden Technologies will provide the video
compression and playback capability to allow Health Sciences International to
transmit its message via large, high frame rate video.
Forbidden Technologies' Business Development Director Greg Hirst commented:
'This exciting project will demonstrate the power of corporate video to
provide a consistent and readily accessible mechanism to keep people in touch
with events throughout a world-wide organisation. We are very pleased that
Health Sciences International has chosen Forbidden and we look forward to
working together to implement a variety of video based services.'
Health Sciences International's Managing Director, Jose Wehnes stated:
'This project will allow us to keep in closer touch with all the country
offices and staff on whom our success depends. I see internet video as a key
element of our communications with staff, partners and customers and something
which we plan to incorporate into our product strategy for the future.'
