-Massive sulphide mineralization on the main Rocky Lake Target confirmed.
-Six more discrete separate VTEM targets identified in addition to the twenty one targets already delineated.
Vancouver, April 11, 2012 - Further to the press releases dated March 29, 2012 and September 21, 2011, QMC Quantum Minerals Corp. (TSXV: QMC) ("QMC" or the "Company") is pleased to announce an update of the Geotech air-borne VTEM plus Time Domain EM system ("VTEM") performed on the Rocky Lake massive sulphide (Rocky Lake and Rocky-Namew) projects, Flin Flon district, Manitoba.
Detailed interpretation of VTEM data by Maxwell Modelling on the main Rocky Lake massive sulphide target showed the presence of a deep seated conductor. This conductor appears to be at least 1000 metres long and seated at a depth of 200 to 250 metres. The conductor was confirmed by drill hole RL11-2. Massive sulphide mineralization was intersected at the bottom of RL11-2. Mineralization consists of semi-massive sulphides, mostly pyrrhotite, pyrite with visible chalcopyrite, and is hosted near the contact of the hanging wall felsic rocks with the footwall mafic rocks. The drill hole was stopped in mineralization because of drilling problems. Seven drill holes at a spacing of 100 metres are recommended to test this conductor along strike. Further details with regards to the grade of the mineralization in RL11-2 will be released upon receipt of the assay data.
This massive sulphide intersection also confirms the geological re-interpretation of the Hudson Bay's historical diamond drilling program and this suggests that Hudson Bay missed the deep-seated massive sulphide mineralization.
The VTEM survey covered all the project licenses and claims for a total of 2142 line kilometres with 160 metre line spacing over an area of 316 square kilometers. Originally twenty one (21) VTEM targets were identified with fifteen (15) classified as first priority targets. Further study of the VTEM data by Geotech identified six (6) more discrete separate VTEM targets. These targets will also be included in future drilling.
Phase 1 drilling program consisted of 9 holes; five holes (5) were drilled on five distinct VTEM targets and four holes (RL11-1, RL11-2, RL12-3 and RL12-4) were drilled on the main Rocky Lake Target. Assay results were received for RL12-6 on Target 11A. Results for all the other holes are pending. All distinct targets identified by Geotech's VTEM survey require drilling.
Details with regards to assays will be released upon receipt.
Mohan Vulimiri, QMC's Director and Qualified Person comments, "We are extremely pleased that the original interpretation and predictions with regards to the presence of massive sulphide mineralization on the Rocky Lake Project came true. We are also very confident that the Project has potential for hosting massive base metal and precious metal deposits. We are eager to commence our next phase of drilling."
Drilling on other five Geotech VTEM Targets
Two holes, RL12-6 and RL12-8 intersected mineralization on two separate targets (11A and T12A) and a third hole, RL12-5 intersected the hanging wall altered felsic wall rock rocks (Target T14). This drill hole was short of the deep target. Holes RL12-7 (Target 11B) and RL12-9 (Target 12B) appeared to miss the targets.
All samples were assayed by Acme Analytical Laboratories Ltd of Vancouver BC by aqua regia digestion ICP-MS analysis. Assaying quality is monitored internally with a quality control program that includes the use of sample standards, blanks, duplicates and repeats.
