- 260 million euros of bank loans, indexed to sustainability goals
- New lines of credit that mature through to 2031
- 85% of the company's debt now becomes indexed to sustainability indicators and targets
NOS has taken a significant step towards integrating sustainability into its financial structure, and now has around 85% of its debt indexed to sustainability targets and indicators, following the signing of contracts for 260 million euros of sustainable bank loans.
The transactions, signed with the BBVA, BPI, Montepio, Caixa Geral de Depósitos and Millennium bcp banks, include credit lines indexed to sustainability goals, which mature through to 2031. These loans replace existing credit lines, and are aimed at refinancing loan requirements for 2026, and strengthening the solidity and predictability of the financial structure of the company in the medium to long term.
The transactions were negotiated and agreed under competitive conditions and are in line with NOS' financial strategy, allowing it to maintain a reduced average financing cost, preserve a comfortable liquidity position and optimise the loan maturity profile, while at the same time ensuring that the group's strategic objectives and operational business are supported.
"These transactions strengthen NOS' capital structure and reflect the financial sector's confidence in the Group's strategy and risk profile. At the same time, it deepens the ties between the cost of financing and our sustainability performance, in line with best international practices and commitments made by NOS," says Pedro Cota Dias, NOS' Investor Relations and Corporate Finance manager.
In parallel, NOS has updated its Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework, which is in line with the most recent ICMA and LMA principles, and was the object of an independent Second Party Opinion and Limited Assurance Report by KPMG & Associates.
NOS has a ratio of Net Financial Debt to EBITDA After Leasings of 1.6x as at 30 September 2025, lower than the majority of companies in the Telecommunications sector, and evidence of the strength of its Consolidated Balance Sheet.
Sustainability is a commitment by NOS that extends across the entire company, ensuring that the future of communications is as responsible as it is innovative. In 2025, NOS was distinguished in two benchmark international rankings as one of the most sustainable companies in the world (TIME Magazine and the Financial Times) and is one of only five Portuguese companies present in both lists, and the only one in the telecommunications sector.
