NAGOYA, JAPAN, May 28, 2026 - Niterra Co., Ltd., Japan's leading spark plug and ceramics manufacturer with an evolving portfolio focused on ceramics and beyond, is proud to announce it has been recognized as a Supplier Engagement Leader in CDP's 2025 Supplier Engagement Rating. This distinguished title, awarded to Niterra for the second consecutive year, reflects the highest level of achievement an organization can attain and highlights Niterra's commitment to sustainable practices and effective communication with suppliers.
CDP is a non-profit organization that encourages and drives environmental action by requesting companies and cities to disclose information on climate change countermeasures, water resource protection, and forest conservation. CDP does this at the request of global institutional investors and others with a strong interest in environmental issues. The "Supplier Engagement Rating" conducted by CDP is an index that surveys companies' engagement with their supply chains regarding climate change issues, with responses in four areas in the CDP Climate Change Questionnaire (Risk Management Processes, Governance and Business Strategy, Supplier Engagement, Scope 3 Emissions, and Targets). The surveyed companies are then evaluated, and companies that achieve the highest rating are selected as "Supplier Engagement Leaders."
The Niterra group has set ambitious CO2 reduction targets as part of its "Eco Vision 2030," aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. These targets include a 46% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, as well as a 30% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by fiscal year 2030 compared to fiscal year 2018. Additionally, the company aims for a 71.4% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by fiscal year 2035, compared to fiscal year 2018. To meet these goals, Niterra is implementing several initiatives, including raising awareness through internal carbon pricing, establishing an internal carbon tax, creating an internal environmental fund system.
For business partners, the "CSR and Sustainability Procurement Guidelines" have been established, requiring them to set targets for reducing CO2 emissions. At the same time, support is provided through initiatives such as sharing energy-saving case studies, organizing seminars, and conducting energy-saving diagnostics to engage with business partners actively.
Niterra will continue to engage in sustainable management across all ESG areas, including environmental initiatives. By balancing the resolution of social challenges with economic growth, the group aims to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
