Winnipeg, MB, Oct. 2 /CNW/ - Wildcat Exploration Ltd. (TSX-V:WEL)
continued locating in 2006 significant gold assay results at its wholly owned
Poundmaker property located 250 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
A highlight of this campaign consisted of the discovery of new gold
showings and extending known mineralized occurrences within the Rio Gold Zone
(RGZ), which is part of the Poundmaker property. During the summer exploration
program over 25 quartz vein and sulphide showings were discovered, increasing
the total number of prospects within the RGZ to 38
(http://files.newswire.ca/537/WildcatRioMap.pdf). Significant assays from
these new high grade gold showings include 8.45 g/t Au, 6.55 g/t Au, 5.01
g/t Au and 4.29 g/t Au.
Some of these new showings are remarkably extensive; for instance, the
newly discovered "Crockett" occurrence was traced over a strike length of
450 m (http://files.newswire.ca/537/WildcatRioMap.pdf). The "Alamo" showing,
discovered in 2005, was extended in 2006 over a distance of 500 meters adding
to a total strike length of 1300 meters in a southwesterly direction.
Approximately 110 m southeast of the "Orca" occurrence (discovered in 2005),
the "Narwhal" occurrence, another gold showing discovered in 2006, extends for
220 m southwest and may represent an extension of the "Orca" showing
(http://files.newswire.ca/537/WildcatRioMap.pdf).
The number and distribution of gold occurrences not only indicates that
significant gold mineralization occurs throughout the RGZ but that it may also
extend further to the northeast and southwest.
Ongoing field work, consisting of mechanical and hydraulic overburden
stripping in the vicinity of high grade gold showings, assists our geologists
in delineating the mineralization extent and controls as the next step
necessary to define winter drilling targets to test the mineralization
continuity and grades.
Information derived from 2005 and 2006 summer exploration programs will
be compiled into a geographic information system database for further analysis
in order to generate drill targets.
