Axel Ediger to take over as Head of Production and Site of the Mercedes-Benz Düsseldorf plant on September 1, 2026 Stuttgart , July 27, 2026 2 Pictures 1 Document Axel Ediger, currently Head of Assembly Production Planning in Sindelfingen, will take over as Head of Production and Site of the Mercedes-Benz Düsseldorf plant on September 1, 2026. He will thus succeed Claudia Malkus, who will assume responsibility for Powertrain Production at Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart on October 1, 2026. "Claudia Malkus has shaped the Düsseldorf site with great energy, clear direction and a consistent focus on the future. Together with her team, she has driven change, inspired people to embrace transformation and laid important foundations for the plant's future. I am pleased that she will bring this experience and her leadership capabilities to the global powertrain production network and wish her every success in this responsible role. With Axel Ediger, an internationally experienced production manager will take over the leadership of our Düsseldorf plant. With his extensive expertise, he will continue the successful development of the site and, together with the dedicated local team, further advance the transformation and long-term competitiveness of the plant. This includes, among other things, ensuring the smooth start of production of vehicles based on the new Mercedes-Benz Van Architecture." Elke Pusskeiler, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Global Operations Axel Ediger began his career at Mercedes-Benz in 1993 in Technical Service at the Sindelfingen plant. Following various positions in factory planning and assembly operations in Sindelfingen, he moved to Thailand in 2011 to become Head of the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) plant in Bangkok. After serving as Head of Assembly for the Mercedes-AMG GT, Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet and Coupé as well as special-purpose vehicles in Sindelfingen, the graduate engineer moved to Beijing, China, in 2016. There, he was responsible for, among other things, production of the MFA model series and the C-Class. In 2021, he returned to Sindelfingen, where he initially assumed responsibility for assembly operations, including the successful launch of Factory 56. Since 2023, he has been responsible for global Assembly Production Planning. About the Mercedes-Benz Vans Plant in Düsseldorf The Mercedes-Benz Vans plant in Düsseldorf is an important site for the production of vans and commercial vehicles. On a production area of around 325,000 square metres, around 5,500 employees manufacture the panel van variants of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and eSprinter. The plant is one of the largest industrial employers and vocational training providers in the region. The plant has been producing the eSprinter since 2019 and the new generation of the eSprinter since 2023. With its long tradition and state-of-the-art technology, the plant is a pioneer in the automotive industry.
