How did mBank perform in the first half of 2026?
mBank Group closed the first half of 2026 with assets exceeding PLN 300 billion. The increase in business volumes was driven by the continued growth of the bank's core operations, including financing for retail and corporate clients, as well as further growth in client deposits. At the end of June, gross loans stood at PLN 154 billion, up 13% year on year and 6% compared with the previous quarter. Client deposits reached PLN 248 billion, increasing by 21% year on year and 5% quarter on quarter.

Cezary Kocik, President of the Management Board of mBank.

More than PLN 300 billion in assets, over 6 million clients and PLN 1 billion in quarterly net profit. These figures best illustrate the scale of mBank's growth. In addition, we are now the third most popular mortgage lender in Poland. This is the result of our clients' trust and the consistent execution of our 'Full Steam Ahead!' strategy, said Cezary Kocik, President of the Management Board of mBank.

What drove growth in mBank's loans and assets?
The bank expanded its business volumes in both the retail and corporate segments. The value of mortgage loans granted in the second quarter amounted to PLN 6.2 billion. As a result, the total mortgage portfolio was nearly 18% larger at the end of June than a year earlier. Asset growth was also supported by a continued inflow of client funds into current and savings accounts, contributing to an increase in deposits to PLN 248 billion.
Why did mBank achieve a record net profit?
n the second quarter of 2026, mBank Group generated a net profit of PLN 1.06 billion. This was the best quarterly result in the Group's history, 10.5% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year. Strong volume growth translated into a 2.6% increase in net interest income compared with the previous quarter. At the same time, net interest income was 4% lower year on year. Net fee and commission income remained at a solid level. It was 1% lower than in the first quarter of 2026, while its year-on-year growth rate remained slightly above the sector average. The results were also affected by higher taxation of banks following the increase in the CIT rate from 19% to 30% as of 2026.

Pascal Ruhland, Vice-President of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer of mBank.

Our second-quarter results demonstrate that mBank is able to grow and maintain strong profitability even in a challenging environment. Lower interest rates put pressure on net interest income, while the banking sector is facing a higher tax burden. At the same time, higher business volumes, industry-leading operational efficiency, solid asset quality and significantly lower legal risk provisions enabled the Group to deliver the highest net profit in its history, said Pascal Ruhland, Vice-President of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer of mBank.

How is the Swiss franc mortgage risk declining?
At the end of June 2026, mBank had concluded more than 34,000 settlements with Swiss franc mortgage borrowers. At the same time, the number of pending court cases fell to 4,300, which translated into a significant reduction in legal risk costs. In the second quarter of 2026, they amounted to PLN 124 million, compared with PLN 543 million a year earlier.

Marek Lusztyn, Vice-President of the Management Board and Chief Risk Officer of mBank.

The CHF portfolio reflects the consistent efforts undertaken over many quarters. The number of settlements has exceeded 34,000, the number of court cases continues to decline, and legal risk costs are significantly lower than a year ago. This is important not only for current results but also for the risk profile of the entire Group. Reduced uncertainty related to the legacy portfolio allows us to focus on the quality of our current business and the prudent financing of our clients, added Marek Lusztyn, Vice-President of the Management Board and Chief Risk Officer of mBank.

What is mBank's capital and profitability position?
Credit risk costs amounted to 37 basis points in the second quarter of 2026. The bank points to an improvement in asset quality, measured by the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio, which declined to 3.1%. Reported return on tangible equity (ROTE) reached 21.9%, confirming the Group's strong profitability despite the higher tax burden on the banking sector. mBank also strengthened its capital position. The inclusion of part of this year's profit in own funds increased capital surpluses above the minimum levels required by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF). Combined with a sound liquidity position, this provides room for further business growth.

We are increasing lending volumes, attracting deposits, strengthening our capital base and reducing the impact of legacy risks. This gives us a solid foundation for further growth, even amid strong competition and margin pressure in the banking sector, said Cezary Kocik, President of the Management Board of mBank.
