Maroc Telecom reports $760mn profit for 2025 after dispute settlement

· Issued by Maroc Telecom Sa

Morocco’s largest telecoms operator, Maroc Telecom (EPA: IAM), said that net profit surged to MAD 6.969bn ($760mn) in 2025, up 288% y/y, rebounding sharply from the previous year when earnings were weighed down by a costly legal settlement, according to a statement cited by Asharq Al Awsat.

In 2024, net profit was hit by a MAD 6.368bn payment to rival Wana Corporate, also known as Inwi, as part of a dispute over local loop unbundling. The settlement required the dominant operator to grant other service providers access to its fibre network.

Excluding the exceptional cost, adjusted net profit fell 4.9% to MAD 5.649bn. The company said it invested 25.6% of its revenues in rolling out 5G services across Morocco during the year. Consolidated revenues edged down 0.1% to MAD 36.6bn.

Maroc Telecom said its customer base expanded by 3.6% to 77mn, driven by growth in its African subsidiaries marketed under the Moov Africa brand. Its domestic customer base remained stable at 22mn. The group proposed a dividend of four dirhams per share, totalling MAD 3.5bn.

Maroc Telecom is 53% owned by e& and 22% by the Moroccan state. It also operates across West and Central Africa. The company serves over 77mn customers across 11 African countries through its Moov Africa subsidiaries, focusing on fibre and 5G expansion.
