MMK Group to invest over RUB 10 bln in environmental projects in 2025

· Issued by Mmk

MMK Group (PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works) is set to invest approximately RUB 10.2 billion in environmental activities in 2025, including RUB 9.9 billion contributed by the parent company. MMK is already implementing core projects in line with the Company's approved Environmental Programme for 2025.

This year, MMK has a total of 25 environmental measures planned across various sections of its plant in addition to 7 projects in the Group's subsidiary companies. The largest "green" investments - totalling more than RUB 2.6 billion - will be directed towards the modernisation of MMK's coke production unit and the construction of environmental protection structures there. Another RUB 1.8 billion will be allocated this year towards the modernisation of MMK's blast furnace production, where the Company plans to reconstruct the air heaters of 5 blast furnaces by 2027.

Plans for 2025 also include processing 7.5 million tonnes of current and waste metallurgical slag. This, in part, will enable the Company to use at least 1.8 million tonnes of waste as recycled material for sinter plant charge.

MMK continues its activities to restore land and preserve biological diversity. Last year, 5,655 seedlings of shrubs and trees were planted on the territory of MMK, and another 1,473 green spaces were planted in Magnitogorsk. In 2025, MMK plans to reclaim 7 hectares of the Western quarry of Magnitnaya Mountain and complete the next stage of stocking the Magnitogorsk Reservoir with fish, with the release of 50,000 thousand common carp, 40,000 grass carp and 3,500 pikeperch into the reservoir planned in October.

The implementation of MMK's environmental proramme contributes to the broader goal of improving the atmospheric air quality in the city of Magnitogorsk.
