Lindian Resources (ASX: LIN) has completed building 65 accommodation units at its Kangankunde Rare Earths Project (Kangankunde) in Malawi, the company said on March 23.
The establishment of permanent accommodation infrastructure at the project, which is situated south of the southern African country, represents a 'critical enabling milestone' for Kangankunde, it said.
Furthermore, the housing allows for continuous on-site workforce presence, supports parallel construction activity across multiple work fronts, and removes a key logistical constraint as the project transitions into full execution.
This establishment of the Tipume Accommodation Camp, added Lindian, materially de-risks near-term development as Lindian advances toward first production targeted by December 31, 2026.
“Initial mobilisation of 38 permanent personnel completed, establishing an on-site operational presence,” said Lindian.
“EPC contractor Obsideo commencing camp occupancy as process plant construction activity ramps up. Allterrain Services Group appointed to manage camp operations. The 90-personnel camp completion is targeted for mid-April 2026, enabling scaled workforce mobilisation and continued construction acceleration.”
The Tipume Camp becoming operational ahead of schedule is a 'clear' demonstration of execution discipline and delivery momentum at Kangankunde, said Lindian Executive Director Zac Komur.
“Establishing a permanent workforce on site enables us to increase activity across multiple fronts while maintaining control over schedule and delivery. — With key infrastructure now in place, we are well-positioned to accelerate development and maintain our pathway toward first production in Q4 2026,” he added.
