Aug. 4, 2009 (Filing Services Canada) -- Liberty Mines Inc. (LBE - TSX), is pleased to present an update on the diamond drill program completed at the Sothman nickel project in the fall of 2008. The intent was to confirm the mineralization that formed the basis of the non-NI 43-101 compliant historical mineral resource estimation of 350,000 tons grading 0.89% Ni (0.5% Ni cut-off) or 190,000 tons at 1.24% Ni (1% Ni cut-off) (Falconbridge Nickel 1971)*.
Results from the six boreholes pertaining to this initial phase of diamond drilling are shown in the table below. The core lengths presented in the table are the intersected lengths, and the composite lengths are core weighted. True widths are unknown.

The high grades encountered during this initial phase of diamond drilling serve as a good indication that economically viable mineralization is contained within the Sothman sill. Current efforts are focused on understanding mineralogical controls to determine areas of high grade material. Further drilling on a deposit scale will concentrate on delineating these zones.
In addition to the higher grade intervals, the large intersections of the dunitic sill show its potential as a large tonnage low grade mineralized structure that warrants further attention. Intersections reported include 0.53% Ni over 73.45 metres (including a high grade zone at the base) and 0.27% Ni over 244m. The abundance of material in this grade range is evident and, pending successful metallurgical studies, could prove to be of great value to Liberty.
Additional reconnaissance drilling took place in the fall of 2008 throughout the strike length of the large intrusive sill. Assay results for this phase are still pending and will be released upon receipt.
The project is supervised by Liberty's geologist, William Randall MSc (Geology) a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. According to the company sampling protocol, half of the diamond drill core is sampled and sent to ALS CHEMEX in Timmins to be prepared for analysis. The prepared samples are then forwarded to the ALS CHEMEX Laboratory in Vancouver for analysis. Base metal values are analyzed by aqua regia digestion and ICP-AES finish. A rigorous QA/QC program is implemented consisting of regular insertion of standards and blanks to ensure laboratory integrity.
* The resource category of the historical estimate was not identified and no comparison of the estimate can therefore be made to the accepted categories. The company has not yet completed the work necessary to verify the classification of the resource and is not treating the resource figure as an NI43-101 defined resource verified by a Qualified Person. At this time, the resource figure should not be relied upon.
