888 Launches Italian Sportsbook - 888.it
888, one of the world's most popular online gaming entertainment companies,
announces the launch of its Italian sportsbook 888.it. 888.it is the Company's
first ever licensed sportsbook offering and is a clear progression of the
Company's overall strategy to expand its product offering and capitalize on
profitable markets.
Following the tender opened by the Italian Monopoly (AAMS) in October 2006, 888
was granted an online sports betting licence. As per the licence, the web
offering is restricted to sports betting and skill games, with possible
extension to any other new games that the Italian regulator may wish to
introduce in the future.
888.it, together with Cogetech, a local partner specializing in the Italian
market, will offer fixed odds initially related to all national sports events
and international events that are of a national interest (excluding horse
races). At a later stage 888.it will expand its offering to include National
horse races and Skill games.
