COMPANIES UNICREDIT MIL:UCG , BANCO BPM MIL:BAMI Italy is sticking to the conditions imposed on UniCredit's bid for Banco BPM as it prepares to engage in talks with the bank, two sources close to the matter said, in a case that has drawn scrutiny from the European Commission. (*) BANCA POPOLARE DI SONDRIO MIL:BPSO The European Central Bank (ECB) carried out an inspection between October 2022 and April 2023 over governance of credit risks, the lender confirmed on Monday evening, after reports in the Italian media. Popolare Sondrio added that the ECB advised it to strengthen some of the bank's internal structures and to reclassify certain credit positions. The latter could cause the bank's net NPL ratio to rise to 1.36% from 1.04% as of March 31, it added. Sondrio has "initiated remedial actions and measures that it will complete within the expected timeframes and that the ECB has reserved to evaluate over time based on their concrete effectiveness and implementation," the bank added.
