COMPANIES TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) MIL:TIT Italy's Economy Ministry and Asterion's Retelit have signed an agreement to buy the phone group's subsea unit Sparkle, in a deal that values it 700 million euros, the ministry and TIM said in a statement, adding that the closing was expected by end-2025. The agreement includes a possible price adjustment in case certain targets for Sparkle's 2025 EBITDA are not met. (*) GENERALI MIL:G It will be up to the newly-appointed board of Fondazione CRT, which holds a 1.9% stake in Generali, to decide how to vote at Generali's shareholders meeting next week, the foundation's chairwoman Anna Maria Poggi said in an interview with Corriere della Sera published on Tuesday. Generali's annual general meeting is due to vote on a the renewal of the board. BANCO BPM MIL:BAMI Credit Agricole EURONEXT:ACA held a 19.8% stake in the bank as of April 9, while Deutsche Bank XETR:DBK cut its stake to zero, also as of April 9, from a previous 5.18%, according to a Monday filing by market watchdog Consob. (*) MONTE DEI PASCHI (MPS) MIL:BMPS , MEDIOBANCA MIL:MB The board of Banco BPM, which holds a 5% stake in Monte dei Paschi, will meet on Tuesday to decide how to vote at MPS' shareholders meeting on Thursday, a source close to the bank said. Banco BPM is leaning towards voting in favour of a capital increase, needed to support MPS' planned bid for Mediobanca. The MPS-Mediobanca deal is a market operation that can make the Italian financial sector more competitive, the chairman of Delfin, Francesco Milleri, said in an interview published by Il Foglio daily on Tuesday. Delfin, the holding company of the Del Vecchio family, has a 9.8% stake in MPS and a 19.8% stake in Mediobanca. BPER MIL:BPE , POPOLARE SONDRIO MIL:BPSO Italy's Competition Authority said on Monday it opened an antitrust investigation into BPER's takeover offer for Sondrio, saying the deal might limit competition in some local markets in the northern provinces of Varese, Como and Pavia. PRYSMIAN MIL:PRY The cable maker said on Monday it sold a 3.7% stake in Hong Kong-listed Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (YOFC) SSE:601869 for around $45 million to support its $1.15 billion acquisition of U.S. group Channell.
