Invengo Information Technology Co., Ltd, a Shenzhen and USA manufacturer of complete RFID Solutions including RFID labels, inlays, tags, readers, and antennas etc., today announced the signing of An Intent of Cooperation with Shaw IP located in Perth, Australia.

Under the agreement, both companies will cooperate in the development of a robust Supply Chain Management and Internet portal for traceability, authentication and direct consumer marketing of items trading between China and Australia such as wine. This portal will provide greater transparency to the supply chain through use of RFID (radio frequency identification). Tags produced by Invengo providing manufacturers to enable fast and efficient item level identification at each handling point where the RFID readers are installed. Further to this, an Invengo NFC (Near Field Communication) tamper proof label will be adhered to item in order to provide the Chinese consumer with a method of authenticating the merchandise via their mobile phone with a built in NFC reader now commonly a feature in new smart phones.

Great Southern winery Ferngrove has agreed to test the labels as Western Australian producers seek ways to protect themselves against imitators.

"It taps into the integrity in our supply chain and projects it to the consumer," Mr Andrew Vlahos from Shaw IP said. He added, "The labelling system would allow consumers to authenticate premium produce by tracing it through the supply chain back to WA farms and vineyards".

Such methods of using RFID are already used for authenticating high value item merchandise in China such as Whisky using labels and full solutions supplied by Invengo. "Using RFID for authenticating an item is becoming for more in demand in China after a history of the industry being subjected to Counterfeiting. Invengo has played an important role in the Chinese market for these solutions and the development of standards around food and alcohol safety and security.

"Chinese people are paying more attention to food security and the government is paying more attention to it," Invengo president Qing Gu said.

"The market in China is faced with challenges from fake wine and food. End users worry and want to know of product really comes from Australia or is it some counterfeit product."

Chinese-owned Ferngrove exports about 660,000 bottle of wine a year and targets the high end of the market.
