About this update from Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.a.

1 September 2026 Intesa Sanpaolo, through its IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division (IMI CIB), has participated in a €234.1 million project financing for European Energy's 225 MW agrivoltaic plant in Vizzini , in the province of Catania, Sicily. The financing, provided alongside a pool of European banks, supports the construction of what will be one of Italy's largest agrivoltaic plants . The project is already under construction and is expected to enter commercial operation in 2028. The Vizzini agrivoltaic project benefits from a 20-year Contract for Difference awarded under Italy's FerX government support scheme, Once operational, European Energy's 225 MW agrivoltaic plant in Vizzini is expected to generate 405 GWh of renewable electricity per year , equivalent to the annual energy consumption of more than 135,000 households. The project combines large-scale solar power generation with agricultural activities, integrating renewable energy production with reforestation initiatives and measures designed to protect and enhance biodiversity. Intesa Sanpaolo thus continues to support companies and industry players in the development of projects capable of making a tangible contribution to the country's decarbonisation and sustainable growth .
