Scott Gunther General Partner of Firemark Ventures Overview of investments Gatik Gatik is advancing autonomous logistics through self-driving trucks purpose-built for the middle mile, improving the efficiency, reliability and safety of goods movement between distribution centres and retail endpoints. By investing in Gatik, IAG is strengthening its position to lead the emerging autonomous transport insurance market in Australia and New Zealand. This investment was supported by FM Capital, Firemark Ventures' Fund of Funds partner, and an existing investor in Gatik. Socotra Socotra delivers modern, cloud-based core insurance software, enabling insurers to move beyond legacy systems toward flexible, API-driven platforms that accelerate innovation and scalability. An investment in Socotra provides IAG with global strategic insights into multi-platform plays and how insurance technology platforms are evolving with the early adoption of advanced AI and API capabilities. Adaptive Insurance Adaptive Insurance in an insurtech platform delivering AI-powered parametric insurance to help businesses manage climate-related disruptions, such as power grid failures. Parametric insurance is a trigger-based policy that pays a pre-agreed sum when a specific event occurs, bypassing traditional, lengthy damage assessments. Instead of proving financial loss, payouts are based on objective data like rainfall levels, wind speed, or earthquake magnitude, allowing for rapid recovery following natural disasters. This investment provides IAG with exposure to next-generation insurance and resilience solutions, helping IAG build strategic insight into evolving customer needs and future risk-transfer models. BlueQubit BlueQubit is advancing the commercial application of quantum computing, helping organisations access and apply quantum capabilities to solve complex computational challenges. This investment supports IAG's understanding of emerging quantum technologies and their potential implications for the insurance sector. It may unlock future applications across catastrophe modelling, pricing, underwriting, portfolio optimisation, capital allocation, and advanced analytics. DexMat DexMat produces advanced, carbon-negative nanomaterials designed to replace traditional metals such as copper and aluminium. Its flagship product, Galvorn, is a lightweight, highly conductive carbon nanotube material available in fibres, films and fabrics, offering a sustainable alternative for electric and data transmission applications. As global demand for electrification, AI infrastructure and data centres accelerates, pressure on critical inputs like copper is expected to intensify. This is driving the need for scalable, lower-emissions alternatives that can support future infrastructure requirements. IAG's investment provides a strategic vantage point into how next-generation materials may reshape industrial and energy systems. Strategic investments support future-focused insurance solutions Mr Gunther said the investments reflect IAG Firemark Ventures' role in bringing external innovation into the organisation and accelerating how insurance is developed, delivered and experienced. "Our role is to connect IAG with the best ideas globally and translate those insights into meaningful capability," he said. "These partnerships ensure we remain well positioned to navigate emerging risks, build resilience and deliver long-term value for our customers."
