Tokyo, June 24, 2026 - Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (President and Executive Officer: Masafumi Senzaki; "Hitachi Construction Machinery") today announced it has signed an agreement with Amazon Leo, Amazon's low-orbit satellite broadband network.

Hitachi Construction Machinery is participating in the Amazon Leo enterprise preview, making it the first construction machinery manufacturer to test the service.

The Challenge: Keeping Every Construction Site Connected

Hitachi Construction Machinery operates a global service network of approximately 300 sales agents and about 9,000 mechanics, constantly collecting machine operation and maintenance data through its "Global e-Service" platform running on Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud. Its ConSite service solution uses this data to help customers reduce machine downtime and lower life cycle costs.

Today, mechanics access ConSite tools via mobile communication networks-but at remote construction sites in mountainous areas, islands, coastal regions, and disaster zones, connectivity can be unreliable or unavailable. This can limit the company's ability to deliver consistent, high-quality service to every customer in these specific environments.

Under this agreement, Hitachi Construction Machinery will deploy portable Amazon Leo antennas at construction sites in the United Kingdom and Germany beginning in 2026, using satellite connectivity for critical service workflows including machine health reports, downloading service manuals in the field, receiving real-time maintenance alerts and uploading inspection reports.

Amazon Leo connectivity enables customers to access their existing cloud resources, including Hitachi Construction Machinery's Global e-Service data infrastructure hosted on AWS. Amazon's compact antennas are designed to perform in harsh environments-rain, snow, and dust-making them well suited for construction sites.

By using reliable, high-speed connectivity independent of mobile networks, Hitachi Construction Machinery aims to uniformize service quality globally and explore the foundation for future AI-driven predictive maintenance across all connected sites.

Comment from Hiroshi Hosokawa, Executive Officer, President of Spare Parts & Service Business Unit, Hitachi Construction Machinery

"Our mission is to maximize customers' machine uptime while minimizing total cost of ownership for our customers. Signing this agreement with Amazon Leo represents a major step toward verifying our vision of connecting all construction sites through communication-regardless of location. With reliable satellite connectivity, we can deliver high-quality ConSite services at every job site in the world and, in the future, enable real-time AI analysis of operation data to further benefit our customers."
