About this update from E.on Se
The smart integration of battery storage systems into the power grid is an important lever for energy security and an affordable energy transition. In order to enable fast and efficient connections of storage capacities despite limited local grid connections, E.ON has created a new framework: a standard for flexible connection agreements (FCA). Such FCAs synchronize the operation of the storage systems with the operation of the grid. This benefits all parties involved: storage operators receive faster grid connections, planning security and financial viability for their investments. At the same time, grid operators can optimize system costs and improve grid stability, benefiting all customers. The model was successfully tested in practice for the first time in a pilot project in cooperation with the battery storage developer ECO STOR and further developed for nationwide use in the E.ON grid areas. As the largest distribution system operator, covering 65 percent of Germany, E.ON is setting a standard for large part of the country. E.ON is thus providing a solution for the rapidly increasing demand for grid connections for battery storage systems: In addition to the approximately 25 gigawatts of connected capacity already committed, E.ON's grid operators have received further requests for storage capacity totalling over 500 gigawatts - six times the current peak load in Germany.
