Turnaround times for Civil Applicant Fingerprint Submissions will be Dramatically Reduced TORONTO, Oct. 12 /CNW/ - ComnetiX(TM) Inc. (TSX:CXI), a leading provider of biometric and identification solutions, today reported that it has been certified by the RCMP to electronically transmit Miscellaneous Applicant Civil (MAP) fingerprint transactions. ComnetiX became one of the first private sector agencies to test electronic transmissions with the RCMP Real Time Identification (RTID) new messaging infrastructure in July of this year via a dedicated VPN located in their Ottawa fingerprinting services office. ComnetiX has the unique status as being recognized by the RCMP as both a vendor and an agency. A vendor is a company that sells fingerprint capture systems to customers who will submit the fingerprint records on their own behalf whereas an agency is a company that provides the fingerprint capture services and submits those records to the RCMP directly on behalf of their clients. "This is a significant achievement for our Fingerprinting Services division and the most recent in a series of industry firsts that show ComnetiX as an obvious leader in the Canadian Fingerprinting Services market" noted John Conohan, Vice President of Fingerprint Services. ComnetiX became Canada's first comprehensive electronic fingerprint capture service in late 2005 and the recent certification by the RCMP is the next major step forward to address the growing demand for criminal record verifications for civil purposes. "Receiving certification from the RCMP for the electronic transmission of Civil Applicant fingerprint records is a major milestone for the Company" said Bernard Crotty, Chief Executive Officer of ComnetiX. "By being one of the first to offer a secure, direct, and RCMP certified link, ComnetiX will soon be able to offer the convenience of state of the art digital fingerprint capture with a dramatic reduction in turnaround time." RTID is a National Police Services Project under the stewardship of the RCMP designed to improve the efficiency of Canada's paper based system of recording fingerprints by digitally processing and submitting fingerprint records to the NPS newly acquired AFIS. The RTID Project will provide the infrastructure to support rapid fingerprint identification; enable seamless, paperless, electronic submission of fingerprints and criminal record data via the National Police Services Network (NPSNet) to Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services.
