He was formerly Senior Vice President, Corporate Development at Alderwoods Group Inc., North America's second largest operator of funeral homes and cemeteries, where he was responsible for legal and business components of corporate development activity, including managing and executing transactions to maximize the value of the company's asset base. Prior to Alderwoods, Mr. Duff was a Partner at Donahue Ernst & Young where he was a key member of numerous corporate transaction teams. Prior thereto, he was Vice President, Corporate Law and Business Development, at CT Financial Services Inc (Canada Trust), where he played an integral role in structuring, negotiating and completing strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, commercial agreements and financings. Mr. Duff began his legal career at Torys LLP in 1987 and became a Partner in 1992. He later joined Stikeman Elliott LLP where he served as a Senior Counsel in the corporate transactions group.
