The Changqing Tunnel, built by CRCC, was successfully completed on Feb 10, marking the full completion of all tunnel projects along the Xiong'an-Xinzhou High-Speed Railway.
Stretching 10.77 kilometers and reaching a maximum depth of 690 meters, the tunnel runs through 25 high-risk sections, six fault zones and a major syncline structure. Construction was particularly demanding due to fractured rock formations and the risks of sudden water and mud inrushes, making both safety control and technical execution highly challenging.
To address the complex geology, engineers strengthened advance geological forecasting and continuously adjusted construction plans based on real-time monitoring data. Technologies such as water-pressure blasting and 3D cross-sectional scanning were deployed to fine-tune support parameters and optimize construction techniques, enhancing overall safety management. A smart dispatching system was also introduced to improve resource allocation and operational precision, significantly upgrading project management efficiency.
The 342-kilometer railway forms a key segment of the Beijing-Kunming corridor within China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed rail network. Once operational, it will complete the final link of the Beijing-Kunming High-Speed Railway, boosting economic and social development along the route and strengthening regional integration.
