LOWNA, BC, March 20 /CNW/ - Cantex Mine Development Corp (CD - TSX
Venture Exchange) ("Cantex" or the "Company").
Twenty-seven percussion holes have now been completed out of the planned
45 holes at the Al Hariqah gold project in Yemen. As previously reported the
gold mineralization at Al Hariqah occurs along a four kilometer long zone and
previous drilling in 1999 and 2000 was restricted to the northernmost
1100 meters. Drilling of the remaining 18 holes is currently in progress. The
45 drill holes reported above are designed to provide further information
within the previously drilled area as well as subsurface information over a
strike length of 2340 meters of the deposit.
Gold results, as determined by fire assay at ALS Chemex, an ISO 9001:2000
accredited laboratory in Vancouver, have now been received for an additional
two holes of this new program. The best intersection from the first hole,
PDH 04, is 2.60 g/t over 13.5 meters from 39 meters to the end of hole at
52.5 meters. The second hole, PDH 22, contains an intersection of 12.15 g/t
over 7.5 meters from 3 meters depth and another mineralized intersection of
2.18 g/t over 19.5 meters from 28.5 meters depth.
PDH 04 was drilled at a dip of -63 degrees to 52.5 meters depth while
PDH 22 was drilled vertical to a depth of 75 meters. Hole PDH 04 was
terminated at a shallower depth than planned due to drilling difficulties.
Both holes are 90 mm in diameter, and were drilled using the Company's reverse
circulation percussion drill. Sampling and logging of the drill holes was
carried out by Cantex's geologists on site in Yemen.
At ALS Chemex gold content for all samples is first determined using a
fire assay with an AAS finish (Au-AA24). Any samples with gold contents in
excess of 10 g/t are then re-assayed using a fire assay with a gravimetric
finish (Au-GRA22).
