Breedon Group Plc has reopened its Grimsby asphalt plant following a significant investment that increases production capacity and strengthens supply for customers across the area.

The reopening marks the completion of a major upgrade programme, which saw the previous unit replaced with a more modern asphalt plant relocated from elsewhere in the business. The investment increases production capacity up to 240 tonnes per hour, while improving reliability and product availability for customers.

Strategically located along the coastline, the Grimsby plant plays a vital role in regional asphalt supply, with the increased output allowing the team to support more customers and respond more effi ciently during peak demand periods.

Mike Sciascia, Area Director - Midlands, said: "The reopening of our Grimsby asphalt plant is an important step forward for our customers in the area. This investment means we can better meet their needs and keep pace with local growing demand.

"Given the importance of this location, with limited alternative supply along this stretch of the coastline, it is vital that we have a site here that can consistently deliver for local projects."

Breedon has worked closely with local suppliers throughout the project, including GBM Demolition in Louth, responsible for demolishing the old plant; BH Construction in Scunthorpe, for the the groundworks; SES Engineering in Newark, for construction of the new plant; and ARC Electrical in Brigg, which carried out the electrical installation.

As part of the upgrade, Breedon also introduced two new 45-tonne storage bins to the site. These allow materials to be mixed and stored for on-demand use, while supporting the future introduction of more specialist products.

Mike Sciascia added: "As well as increasing capacity, the new plant gives us greater fl exibility in how we operate.

"The additional storage also supports the development of more specialist products, helping us evolve our off ering to meet customer needs."
