· Issued by Route1 Inc. via CNW
TORONTO, June 15 /CNW/ - Route1, Inc.(TM) (TSX-V:ROI), a trusted provider
of secure, identity-managed computing solutions, today announced that Bell
Canada has agreed to launch a massive pilot to resell the Route1 MobiKEY(TM).
This ultra-portable computing device that securely connects users to desktop
and network resources from any Internet-enabled Windows-based PC will be sold
through Bell Canada's Small & Medium Business Solutions group.
This agreement follows on the recent announcement between Route1 and Bell
Canada's Security Solutions subsidiary, BSSI, whose focus is the large
enterprise market, including health care, government and financial services.
With a customer base over 300,000, the Bell Canada Small & Medium Business
Solutions group serves customers with up to 500 employees. The pilot phase of
this initiative will involve all field sales reps in the province of Ontario
with a focus on the mid-market accounts.
"Achieving secure, remote connectivity to desktop resources has always
presented a challenge for smaller enterprises, given the logistical and
security issues which characterize traditional remote access solutions," said
Peter Kerr, Vice President Marketing for Small/Medium Business at Bell Canada.
"The Route1 approach is simple, and provides the next generation in easy to
install, fully-managed, secure remote access."
MobiKEY is currently being used by business professionals around the
world for secure remote connectivity to simple word processing applications as
well as complex CAD/CAM and medical imaging technology. Governments of several
countries have already embraced MobiKEY, and Route1's customer list has grown
to include businesses from every conceivable industry segment.
"Bell Canada is one of the world's leading communications companies and
has a long tradition of introducing innovative technology into the Canadian
market," said Andrew White, CEO of Route1. "MobiKEY's appeal is universal, and
it's a natural fit with Bell's Small & Medium Business Solutions group."
Peter Kerr added, "The first time I used my MobiKEY, I was hooked. I
immediately saw the fit in our market and am confident our customers will join
the list of many satisfied MobiKEY users worldwide."
Embedded on a smart card-enabled, cryptographic USB device, Route1
MobiKEY securely connects users to their desktop and network resources which
look, act and behave exactly as they do when they are at their desk in the
office. Users simply plug the ultra-portable MobiKEY into the USB port of any
Internet-enabled, Windows-based PC and within seconds are running applications
on their office desktop. This unique secure access solution is powered by
MobiNET, a service delivery platform for secure identity management which
enables the secure operation of office desktops over cellular data, WiFi, or
LAN connections from any location worldwide.
