Banca Transilvania is supporting the investment plans of Antibiotice Iași, the largest generic drug manufacturer with majority Romanian ownership, through a €67 million loan intended to further the development of two projects that are essential to the pharmaceutical industry:

  • "Production, packaging, and storage capacity for sterile products, solutions, and topical preparations" isone of the most significant investment projects undertaken by Antibiotice Iași in recent years. Through this investment, the company is strengthening its strategic role in the topical products and sterile solutions segment both nationally and in international markets by diversifying its portfolio of essential medicines for hospitals. The project contributes to increasing the resilience of the healthcare system and ensuring the availability of essential therapeutic solutions, with a direct impact on saving lives. The project was launched with funding from the European Investment Bank in Romania through the InvestEU program and also benefits from non-reimbursable funds granted by the Ministry of Finance.

  • The INOVA a+ research and development center and the new production facility for critical medicines representa strategic investment with a major impact on the health security of Romania and Europe. The project helps strengthen Romania's ability to produce critical medicines locally, reducing dependence on external supply chains and supporting the European Union's goals regarding strategic autonomy in the health sector. This investment strengthens Antibiotice's long-term growth prospects by developing innovation capabilities, expanding the product portfolio, and increasing competitiveness in international markets. The project also includes a grant component provided by the Ministry of Investments and European Projects through the STEP (Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform) program.

The funding marks a new phase in the collaboration between the two companies and supports the implementation of investments with strategic significance for Romania's pharmaceutical industry.

We are honored to support Antibiotice's development plans by financing strategic projects that benefit both the company and the entire Romanian healthcare ecosystem. This financing reaffirms Banca Transilvania's commitment to supporting Romania's leading companies, which generate value, innovation, and impact in people's lives.
