London, United Kingdom - [9 SEPT], 2026 - Proximie, the operating system for intelligent operating rooms, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Deloitte, and eight NHS hospitals, today announces the launch of the largest ever surgical AI evaluation undertaken in the NHS to treat more patients using the theatres and staff they already have - at scale. The year-long programme will see Proximie's Intelligence Suite deployed across 104 operating theatres, endoscopy suites, and catheterisation laboratories at eight NHS hospital sites. The Intelligence Suite captures surgical and operational data automatically in the background of the theatre, without disrupting the surgical team, and de-identifies and anonymises it at source. Proximie's AI models then turn it into real-time operational insight across the full operative pathway, enabling teams to identify bottlenecks, optimise workflows, and improve theatre performance. This makes it the largest deployment of real-time surgical intelligence technology in the NHS to date. Led by Proximie, programme collaborators include AWS, which provides the cloud and AI infrastructure that enables Proximie to securely process high volumes of surgical data at source from all eight sites without requiring additional infrastructure at each hospital, now and as the programme scales. Deloitte is supporting programme delivery and transformation across the hospital operating theatres and key NHS Trusts and the NHS London region, helping embed findings into how theatres are run day to day. Over the next 12 months, participating sites will use the operational insights generated by Proximie's Intelligence Suite to reduce delays between operations and make fuller use of the theatre time they have, treating more patients across more than 20,000 procedures a year without asking staff to work longer hours. The programme was established to facilitate the ability of healthcare technologies to scale, with many promising but small pilot studies proving difficult to replicate across the broader health system. By deploying a common evaluation framework across eight hospital sites, the programme aims to generate robust evidence on how surgical AI can improve operational performance at scale and be adopted more broadly across the NHS. Early deployment of Proximie's Intelligence Suite has indicated the potential to enable an additional surgical case per day [1] through improved theatre flow and operational efficiency, helping to address pressure on NHS waiting lists. The platform builds on Proximie's established NHS footprint, with the Surgical Suite accessible in approximately 20% of NHS hospitals. Intelligence Suite is already in deployment across Trusts including University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire and Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, where benefits include an 8.2% increase in cases, and a 30% reduction in turnover time. Ultimately, allowing more patients to be treated without the need for more theatres or staff. The announcement follows Proximie's designation as an AI Pioneer by AWS through its Pioneers Project 2026 , as well as its collaboration with NVIDIA on Project Rheo, an initiative focused on advancing intelligent operating theatres through AI, surgical data, and next-generation healthcare robotics. Together, these milestones reinforce Proximie's broader vision of connected, data-driven theatres that combine AI, surgical data, and physical AI to improve efficiency, increase capacity, and enhance patient outcomes. Nadine Hachach-Haram, Founder and CEO of Proximie, said: "As part of this pioneering programme to improve theatre efficiency across the NHS, we're proud to be using AI-driven insight provided by Proximie's Intelligence Suite to help clinical teams and hospital leaders better understand how theatre capacity is being used, so more patients can be treated sooner within existing resources. This is a great example of what's possible when clinical expertise, advanced technology, and system-level thinking come together in a practical way to support real change across the NHS. It's an honour to be working alongside our collaborators on this programme." Kira Levy, Head of Healthcare UK, AWS, added: "At AWS, we believe AI has the potential to transform how healthcare is delivered and improve outcomes for patients. We're proud to collaborate with Proximie to support the NHS to test, innovate, and scale the use of AI for increasing surgical capacity in hospitals. This collaboration is a powerful example of how cloud and AI can help hospitals to unlock capacity within existing resources, so more patients can be treated sooner." Sara Siegel, Deloitte Global Health & Human Services Sector leader, added: "Operating theatres are the most costly and resource-heavy part of a hospital. Efficient use of these facilities allows NHS Trusts to maximise resources and, importantly, ensure more patients receive timely procedures. While there are many ways AI can help, platforms like Proximie that can boost efficiency may actually lead to some of the biggest improvements in patient outcomes."
