On September 10, 2024, an official ceremony marked the launch of a new investment project by "Alcomet" AD, valued at 140 million BGN.
Among the distinguished guests at the event were the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, the Mayor of Shumen, Prof. Hristo Hristov, the Ambassador of Turkey to Bulgaria, Mehmet Sait Uyanık, the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency, Mila Nenova, members of parliament, regional mayors, and numerous guests from Bulgaria and Turkey.
Together with the owners of "Alcomet" - Mr. Fikret Ince and Mr. Fikret Kuzucu - President Radev inaugurated the foundation-laying of the new production facility.
"We are extremely grateful to all who are with us today. It is an honor for us to welcome the President of Bulgaria. We hope to have the pleasure of your presence at the official opening of the new production line, whose foundations we are laying today. Special thanks to the Turkish Ambassador, the Mayor of Shumen, and all the ministers who supported us in realizing this project," said Mr. Fikret Ince.
"When we acquired the factory 25 years ago, it produced only 300 tons per month and mainly served the local market. Today, thanks to years of investment, 'Alcomet' is a company with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons, exporting to Europe and America. With this new investment, we hope to increase this capacity to 130,000-140,000 tons annually and produce higher value-added products," he added.
Mr. Ince also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the employees of "Alcomet," emphasizing that the company's success is the result of their dedication and professionalism.
President Rumen Radev and Mayor of Shumen Prof. Hristo Hristov congratulated the management of "Alcomet." The President highlighted the impressive scale of the enterprise and its importance for the economic development of the region, as well as for strengthening bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Turkey. The Mayor of Shumen emphasized the significance of the investment for the local community and assured that the municipality would continue to support business development in the region.
The project, titled "Expanding the Product Mix by Installing a Continuous Casting Line, Profile Production Lines, a Universal Foil Rolling Mill, and Supporting Facilities," will be implemented over three years. It is expected to create 160 new jobs, enabling the company to significantly increase its production capacity and expand its range of products. With this investment, "Alcomet" AD will continue to play a leading role in the region's economic growth and contribute to the sustainable development of the local community.
