‌AIB opens new San Francisco office, further strengthening its more than half a century old US presence Dublin / San Francisco - 19th March 2026: AIB has officially opened a new representative office in San Francisco, further extending the bank's presence in the United States and strengthening its ability to support US customers with operations in Ireland, as well as Irish companies expanding their operations in the US, particularly on the west coast. The official opening was marked at an event attended by AIB CEO, Colin Hunt, the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD, and the Mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie. Also in attendance were the Consul General of Ireland in San Francisco, Micheál Smith, representatives of Irish state agencies including IDA Ireland, as well as members of the Irish and US business communities. The new representative office will link AIB's teams in Ireland and the US who are supporting multinational customers as they navigate cross-border needs by connecting them with AIB's corporate banking, treasury, capital markets and climate and infrastructure capital capabilities. It will also focus on market development and client engagement, strengthening relationships with existing customers and building new connections, while enhancing AIB's visibility. The office will also work closely with Irish Government representatives, agencies and the wider Irish network in the region, including IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland. California is the fourth largest economy in the world. Currently there are around 300 Irish companies doing business in the state, who collectively employ 10,000 people. In turn, California based firms have 40,000 employees in Ireland and three of the top five international corporations in the country are from the state. Commenting on the opening, AIB CEO Colin Hunt, said: "San Francisco and the wider west coast sit at the heart of global innovation and investment. With our new representative office, AIB is deepening its ability to support multinational customers with operations in Ireland and to back Irish companies as they expand their footprint in the United States. This local presence strengthens connectivity, speeds up relationship support and reinforces AIB's long-term commitment to helping customers capture the opportunities created by two-way investment between Ireland and the US." AIB has a long and proud heritage in the US, spanning more than half a century. Our US head office has been located in New York City since 1973 and it has a growing customer footprint across corporate lending, treasury and our fast-expanding climate and infrastructure capital activities.
