About this update from Aib Group Plc

29 th January 2026 AIB announces €26m branch investment programme, demonstrating commitment to sustainable communities New €26 million expenditure plan for AIB and EBS part of a €66m branch investment programme AIB branches and EBS offices will be upgraded, including new technology to support customers 150 new Cash and Cheque Lodgement machines as part of wider investment in Ireland's largest branch network Further investment in Mobile Community Banking fleet AIB is investing a further €26 million in its branches and EBS offices over the next two years , demonstrating its deep commitment to customer focused innovation and supporting communities across Ireland. The investment programme includes significant upgrades to six AIB branches and 32 EBS offices, delivering modern banking halls, clear interaction spaces and enhanced privacy for customers. 150 new Cash and Cheque Lodgement (CCL) machines will be introduced across the country. Furthermore, two mobile community banking vehicles operating in the North West and South West will be replaced. The new CCL machines will support customers to carry out their banking in a way that is convenient to them, allowing customers to lodge and withdraw money in a simple and efficient way, with a withdrawal limit of €1,500. And of course, customers can still choose to transact at the counter in our 170 branches, where our colleagues are ready to provide support. In addition, the limit on the amount of cash that can be withdrawn at an AIB ATM has been increased from €600 to €1,000, to further support customers and communities with access to their cash when they need it. This announcement builds on AIB's €40 million investment in 127 branches in 2025, which included significant refurbishments and 60 new CCL machines. As part of our commitment to making our branches and services as accessible as possible for all our customers, AIB has also upgraded all ATM and CCL machines, to provide increased functionality for people who are visually impaired. These machines now offer voice guidance support for cash withdrawals, balance queries, mini statements and PIN services. All customers need to do is simply insert their headphones into the device to avail of this service. This overall investment also supports AIB's sustainability goals, reducing operational carbon emissions by an estimated 10%. Speaking about the investment programme, AIB's Managing Director, Retail Banking, Geraldine Casey said "At AIB, we are proud to be digital first and human when it matters. While we continue to invest in innovative digital solutions for the convenience of our customers, we understand the vital role our 170 branches and 66 EBS offices play in supporting communities across Ireland. Our ongoing branch investment programme is a clear demonstration of our commitment to ensuring that customers have access to personal, face-to-face support and modern, warm and welcoming facilities in the heart of their towns and villages. By enhancing our branch network, we are investing not just in technology, but in our customers and our communities, which matters most to us."
