Overview of Business Performance and Financial Position
Overview of Operating Results for the Fiscal Year under Review
The Company operates in 12 countries including Japan, the Americas, Europe, and Asia, primarily manufacturing and selling precision metal processing components, including precision springs, for the automotive, medical, office automation equipment, and aircraft industries.
The business environment during the fiscal year under review remained unpredictable due to uncertain factors such as the impact of reciprocal tariffs by the U.S. government, the resulting effects on the global economy and exchange rates, and the deterioration of Japan-China relations. Despite this, the Company performed steadily overall, with the medical business continuing to expand.
Under these circumstances, net sales for the fiscal year under review increased 4.0% year-on-year to ¥29,679 million, operating profit increased 19.2% to ¥1,322 million, ordinary profit increased 687.0% to ¥1,343 million, and profit attributable to owners of parent was ¥1,027 million (compared to a loss of ¥628 million in the previous fiscal year).
Segment results were as follows.
[Japan]
Although sales to the office automation equipment sector decreased, sales to the automotive sector performed steadily, and sales to the medical, precision equipment, and information equipment sectors were also strong. As a result, net sales increased 1.2% year-on-year to ¥9,203 million, and segment profit increased 14.7% to ¥255 million.
[Americas]
With continued expansion in the medical sector and ongoing improvements at the Mexico plant, net sales increased 11.2% year-on-year to ¥6,014 million, and segment profit increased 43.4% to
¥276 million. [Europe]
Although the start of mass production for new medical business was delayed, recovery in the aircraft sector led to net sales increasing 4.2% year-on-year to ¥3,543 million. However, segment profit decreased 46.6% to ¥80 million due to increased fixed costs including upfront investments related to the medical business at the Czech plant.
[Asia]
With continued strong performance in the automotive and precision equipment sectors, net sales increased 2.7% year-on-year to ¥10,918 million, and segment profit increased 28.7% to ¥700 million.
