Dan Wilton has more than 25 years of experience in M&A, corporate finance and principal investing in the mining sector, having executed as principal or advised on more than $10 billion of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures and more than $1 billion of financings. Dan was previously a Partner at Pacific Road Capital Management, a mining-focused private equity investment firm with approximately $800 million under management. Prior to joining Pacific Road, Dan's previous roles included Managing Director and Head of the Global Mining and Metals Group at National Bank Financial Inc., Managing Director in Business Development at General Electric based in London, England, and other corporate finance and M&A roles at global financial institutions based in Toronto and New York. Dan is a Director of Providence Living, a residential care and assisted living provider based in Vancouver, BC, and serves on the Audit and Finance and Quality Committees. Dan served on the Board of Providence Health Care for 11 years, including acting as Vice Chair for 6 years and Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee during the financing and approval process for the New St. Paul's development. Dan holds a B.Comm (First Class Honours) from Queen's University and an MBA (with Distinction) from INSEAD in France.

Speaker 1: It's my pleasure today to meet with Dan Wilton, 1st Mining Gold CEO and Director. Speaker 2: How are you today, Dan? I'm well, Romeo. Great to see you. Speaker 1: I've got a few questions today about your history. I'm not gonna say ancient history. You're still a young man. Speaker 1: Then we'll zoom into the present, talk about 1st mining, some of the projects, but let's get right into it. Sure. Speaker 1: So with BCOM from Queens, go Gales, Speaker 1: curious if mineral extraction Speaker 1: was always on your mind or if the career kind of took you there over time? Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it wasn't despite the fact, Speaker 2: we knew a bunch of people Speaker 2: in my kind of cohort at Queen's, who went into mining engineering, and all the people I know who went into mining engineering, I don't think any of them actually worked at a mine, Speaker 2: as it turns out. So, Speaker 2: but, so I knew a little bit about it there, but not really. My entry into the mining sector came almost completely by accident. Speaker 2: I started my career at Morgan Stanley in New York in the mergers and acquisitions group, kind of part of a generalist pool of analysts. Speaker 2: And we'd just gone through our training and at the end of the training, Speaker 2: you know, the staffer came around on Friday and everyone's super keen to get their 1st assignment Speaker 2: and, you know, he said it's a mining project. Speaker 2: And all of a sudden I noticed that a lot of my friends were like going down to tie their shoes Speaker 2: or go into the bathroom. Speaker 2: And, you know, I was super keen to do whatever. And they kind of looked around and said, Well, we'll give it to the Canadian kid because he must know something about mining, despite the fact that I grew up in Winnip...
