- WaveRider EUM8005 offers the highest throughput available in a 900MHz Indoor CPE -
VICTORIA, Nov. 14 /CNW/ - Vecima Networks (TSX: VCM), a leading supplier of wireless Last Mile Solutions(TM), today announced the commercial release of the WaveRider next generation indoor modem. The LMS8000 Series 900 MHz lineup now includes the highest throughput OFDM indoor subscriber unit in the industry. The new EUM8005 indoor radio enables wireless Internet service providers to increase their return on investment by deploying premium indoor, high throughput wireless broadband access gear to their subscribers.
"This new high modulation indoor radio is the 5th generation of WaveRider indoor modems and an important part of our broader wireless product portfolio," said Dr. Surinder Kumar, Vecima's CEO. "Based on the commercial success of the LMS8000 series of OFDM 900 MHz broadband equipment we introduced late last year, we have aggressively continued to develop our wireless product line to ensure it remains the performance market leader."
"The Vecima EUM8005 indoor modem has been deployed within our networks for some time now and has proven to be very reliable and easy to deploy," said Dale McEachern, CEO of Ontario-based Nextcom, a communications integrator. "Our customers have noticed a significant speed increase with this modem. We also really like the power over Ethernet feature as it offers additional installation options over the previous EUM3005."
Fully compatible with the new OFDM LMS8000 system of base stations and outdoor modems released in December 2007, the new EUM8005 allows true "Plug and Play" connectivity including power over ethernet (PoE), which permits the transfer of electrical power along with data to remote devices over standard twisted pair cables in an Ethernet network. The new indoor subscriber unit features up to 13.5 Mbps over-the-air data rate packed into a 5.5 MHz channel size in the 902-928 MHz frequency range. The EUM8005 also features an external antenna connector.
When combined with Vecima Networks' VistaMAX(R) series of WiMAX-compliant equipment at 1.9, 3.5 and 3.65 GHz frequencies and the ever popular BWIN series of 700MHz - 6GHz DOCSIS wireless broadband systems, Vecima offers complete wireless solutions to meet the needs of Internet service providers, enterprise customers, video surveillance users, municipalities, governments and military marketplaces.

About Vecima Networks
Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX:VCM) designs, manufactures and sells products that enable broadband access to cable, wireless and telephony networks. Vecima's hardware products incorporate original embedded software to meet the complex requirements of next-generation, high-speed digital networks. Service providers use Vecima's solutions to deliver services to a converging worldwide broadband market, including what are commonly known as "triple play" (voice, video and data) and "quadruple play" (voice, video, data and wireless) services. Vecima's solutions allow service providers to rapidly and cost-effectively bridge the final network segment that connects the system directly to end users, commonly referred to as "the last mile", by overcoming the bottleneck resulting from insufficient carrying capacity in legacy, last mile infrastructures. Vecima's products are directed at three principal markets: Data over Cable, Broadband Wireless and Digital Video. The Company has also developed and continues to focus on developing products to address emerging markets such as Voice over Internet Protocol, fibre to the home and IP video.
