Wacom : Resolution of Suit Against Maxeye - Update

Source: MarketScreener

As previously announced (https://www.wacom.com/en-us/about-wacom/news-and-events/2026/20260827), Wacom has recently resolved its patent infringement suit against Maxeye. Wacom has observed that certain statements circulating in the market do not accurately reflect the substance and legal effect of the settlement, and therefore issues this release in order to ensure that our customers, partners, industry stakeholders, and the public have an accurate understanding.

Recent statements in the market suggest that Wacom's patents have been licensed to Maxeye on a comprehensive, portfolio-wide basis for all products made by Maxeye. That is not the case. The license granted under the Settlement covers only certain of Wacom's patents, and is generally limited to Maxeye's pen products compliant with the USI 1.0 and USI 2.0 specifications. Maxeye's pen products supporting any non-USI protocols are not included in the scope of the license, and Wacom fully reserves all of its rights in respect of any such activity. Indeed, in the event Maxeye infringes Wacom's patents through sale of pens with non-USI protocols, Wacom is able to seek relief - including specifically injunctive relief - promptly through arbitration, without the need to proceed through court litigation.

The Settlement is consistent with Wacom's commitment to its customers to provide leading technology by investing in R&D supported by strong IP rights, with Wacom's name standing behind Wacom's products. The Settlement reaffirms the validity of Wacom's intellectual property rights, provides recognition of the value of Wacom's IP, and establishes a structured, effective and speedy mechanism for addressing infringement by unlicensed products. Wacom will continue to protect its technology and intellectual property appropriately, helping to sustain long-term value for customers while delivering reliable products and services to its customers.
