· Issued by Volkswagen AG

Summary by 6ix

The Volkswagen Group delivered 6,011,000 vehicles worldwide from January to September 2026, down 9.0 percent from 6,604,300 a year earlier. Third-quarter deliveries (July to September 2026) were 1,885,300 vehicles, down 14.3 percent from 2,198,900.

Key details

  • Nine-month deliveries by region: Europe up 1.7 percent to 2,956,000 vehicles, South America up 4.3 percent to 502,500, North America down 4.0 percent to 680,200, and China down 30.2 percent to 1,378,800.
  • Deliveries of all-electric battery vehicles (BEV) were 678,700 in the first nine months, down 5.4 percent from 717,700. In Europe, BEV deliveries rose 19.6 percent in the third quarter to 209,100, while US BEV deliveries fell 78.4 percent over nine months to 14,900.
  • In Europe, all-electric models make up around 40 percent of the order book. The company says its European BEV order book has roughly doubled compared with year-end 2025, and BEV order intake rose more than 60 percent in the third quarter compared with the prior-year period.
  • The Electric Urban Car Family, made up of the VW ID. Polo and ID. Cross, Škoda Epiq and CUPRA Raval, has received nearly 150,000 orders to date.
  • Deliveries of plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and range-extender (EREV) vehicles, which pair a battery with a combustion engine, reached 368,000, up around 23 percent from the prior-year period. In China, deliveries of electrified vehicles rose around 30 percent in the third quarter.

Wolfsburg. On October 12, 2026, the Volkswagen Group published the deliveries for Q3 2026.

"In a persistently challenging market environment, the Volkswagen Group kept its deliveries outside of China stable overall in the first nine months. We recorded growth in South America and Europe. In our home market, we are seeing a significantly accelerated trend towards all-electric vehicles. The main reasons for this are the currently high fuel prices and the wider range of entry-level models. This includes our Electric Urban Car Family, for which we received nearly 150,000 orders shortly after its launch. This is a tremendous success that underscores how these four vehicles have perfectly captured the spirit of the times. Overall, one in five of the models we've delivered in Europe is all-electric, and in our order book, that share is as high as around 40 percent. The sharp decline in the overall market in China remains an industry-wide challenge. At the same time, our new, locally developed electric models are beginning to make an impact. Compared to the same quarter last year, we delivered approximately 30 percent more electrified vehicles to our customers in China in Q3. Globally, our deliveries after three quarters are approximately nine percent below the same period last year."
