(the "Company" or "Virgin Metals") (TSX-V: VGM) announces two new members to its management team. Mr. Mark Shonnard has been appointed Corporate Controller and will transition into service as our Chief Financial Officer and Mr. Keith Brogoitti has been appointed Operations Manager, Mexico. Mr. Shonnard has over 20 years experience in Finance/Administrations and Operations of natural resource and construction companies. From April, 2005 until August, 2006 he was the acting VP of Finance and Administration, Venezuela, for Hecla Mining Company. From January, 2004 to February, 2005 he was the Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Secretary of Western Goldfields, Inc., a company redeveloping the historic Mesquite Mine in southern California. From 1997 to 2004, he was Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Nevada Colca Gold, Inc., a privately held mineral exploration company that he co-founded. Previously, from 1992 to 1997, Mr. Shonnard was Controller and Assistant Secretary of a Peruvian subsidiary of BHP-Magma. Mr. Brogoitti brings with him over 25 years of mineral exploration, development, and operational experience. He has worked in the uranium, base metal and precious metal sectors of the mining industry. He has held management positions for companies such as Newmont Mining and Compannia Minera Antamina. He has also worked as a technical consultant for Placer Dome and Noranda and most recently has been consulting for Kennecott, Phelps Dodge, Asarco and BHP. He has worked internationally in Myanmar, Chile, Peru and Iraq. Pursuant to the Company's stock option plan, the Company has granted 100,000 incentive stock options each to Mr. Shonnard and Mr. Brogoitti. The stock options are exercisable to acquire one common share of the Company at $0.28 per share and can be exercised until October 11, 2011. This stock option grant is subject to regulatory approval.
