Vecima Networks Emerges

VCom prepares for November 14 name change

VICTORIA, Aug. 29 /CNW/ - VCom Inc. (TSX: VCM) announced today that
effective November 14 it will change its name and begin to operate as Vecima
Networks Inc. The company's CUSIP number and TSX symbol will remain unchanged
and the company can be found on the web at its new domain,
www.vecimanetworks.com as of November 14.
"As we continue to grow and mature as a company, we must ensure that our
brand reflects our size and position within the marketplace" said VCom Chief
Executive and Chairman, Dr. Surinder Kumar.
"Having surpassed 600 employees, transitioned to a public company and
significantly expanded our facility holdings, we feel this is an appropriate
time to re-brand the firm as we shift our marketing campaigns into high gear.
It is critical that customers, investors, and market observers recognize our
organization's successes and capabilities moving forward."
"While the VCom name served our purposes well in the past, our company
has now evolved to market numerous best-in-class products under own label and
in a worldwide channel. The name 'VCom', and its variants, is used by various
companies, and is even trademarked in some jurisdictions preventing our use of
the name in those countries. As we expand internationally, we need a
universally recognized and proper name as we focus on developing our unique
brand. Vecima represents an evolution of our company from not only supplying
OEM modules but also providing leading edge solutions under our own label. Our
initiatives to develop state of the art products for WiMAX and DOCSIS 3.0
align with this change."
"Vecima will continue VCom's core commitments to quality standards and
personal customer relationships," Kumar said. "With Vecima we are building a
brand that is synonymous with our core strengths; technical pre-eminence,
time-to-market, agility, and solutions tailored to our customers' needs on a
case-by-case basis are hallmarks of our company."

developed and continues to focus on developing products to address emerging
markets such as Voice over Internet Protocol, fibre to the home and IP video.
