Update on Group's Manufacturing Operations in Malaysia and the USA
SINGAPORE, 20 March 2020:
SGX Mainboard-listed UMS Holdings Limited ("UMS" or "The Group") has today announced an update on the Group's manufacturing operations in Malaysia and the USA.
According to the Malaysian Government's restricted movement control order (RMO) nationwide, starting from 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020 to address the Covid-19 outbreak, all business premises except for those in essential services will be shut.
As we understand semiconductors are listed on the government's "List of Products that are Part of the Supply Chain of Essential Goods Supply Chain for Exemption from the Restriction of Movement", the Group's facilities in Penang can continue its operations. To comply with this RMO, production in the Penang factory is currently halted and an application for approval to continue operations during this RMO period has been made to MITI (Ministry of International Trade & Industry).
The Penang facilities will resume operations when approval is obtained.
The Group's factory in California, USA will be closed in compliance with the California State's "Stay at Home" Executive Order in the USA issued on March 19, 2020. The resumption of operations will be subject to further government directives.
The temporary halt is not expected to have any significant material financial impact on the Company.
Production facilities in Singapore will remain operational.
The Group will continue to closely monitor the Covid-19 situation and shall keep shareholders informed of any material developments as and when they arise.
