Turkey's leading industrial company Tüpraş has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2021. Total production and sales of Tüpraş realized as 6.5 and 6.9 million tons, respectively, while total revenue was 33.7 billion TL in the second quarter of 2021.Tüpraş announced the financial results for the second quarter of 2021. Tüpraş had a capacity utilization of 91% while total production and sales realized as 6.5 and 6.9 million tons, respectively. Tüpraş's revenue came in at TL 33.7 billion in the second quarter.
Tüpraş continues its investments in modernization and energy efficiency and has made a total investment of TL 335 million in the second quarter of 2021, 51% of which is sustainability investments.
Oil demand continued to improve in the second quarter of 2021 thanks to ease of restrictions with wider global vaccine rollouts.
Brent price rose from 63.8 $/ bbl in March to 76.2 $/ bbl by the end of June, thanks to OPEC+ countries' compliance with production cut.
Mobility increased with the ease of restrictions globally, as a result of this development gasoline stock levels came down below 5-year averages at the beginning of second quarter, which moved up gasoline cracks.
Recovery on diesel cracks was limited due to higher supply which has not yet been fully met by demand. Jet fuel cracks gradually improved as global flights continued to be lower than pre-pandemic levels, which continued to put pressure on cracks.
Tüpraş recorded a pre-tax income of TL 1.3 billion in the second quarter with the support of inventory gain resulting from increase in Brent prices, strong domestic and international sales, increased capacity utilization and decreased operating expenses per barrel. Pre-tax income in the first half came in at TL 337 Million.
While maintaining strong balance sheet with well-disciplined and effective financial policies its performance continues to approach pre-pandemic levels in terms of profitability and leverage ratios with its improved operating profitability.
