Türk Telekomünikasyon A.Ş. ("Türk Telekom") is pleased to announce that, effective 24 October 2025, the Board of Directors has decided to appoint Mr. Ebubekir Şahin as the Chief Executive Officer ("CEO") of Türk Telekom.
Mr. Ebubekir Şahin was born in 1974 in Çayeli, Rize. He completed his primary education in Rize and his high school education in Sakarya. He graduated from Faculty of Communication of Gazi University in 1995 and received his master's degree in Journalism in 2002. Mr. Ebubekir Şahin worked as a civil servant at the Ministry of Interior and Turkish Police Force. During the Refah-Yol governments, he served as an advisor to a Member of Parliament in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. As of the onset of 2002, during the first term of the AK Party, he served as Private Secretary to the Ministry of Justice, Private Secretary and Department Head to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Advisor to the President of the Radio and Television Supreme Council, and Public Relations Advisor to the Prime Ministry. He then served as Head of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department, Deputy General Manager, and Acting General Manager at Anadolu Agency between 2011 and 2014. Between 2014 and 2017, Mr. Ebubekir Şahin served as Deputy Undersecretary and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies.
In accordance with Article 35 of RTÜK (Radio and Television Supreme Council) Law No. 6112, Mr. Ebubekir Şahin was elected as a member of the Radio and Television Supreme Council from the AK Party quota following the election held by the Turkish Grand National Assembly on 16 October 2017. After serving for a period as a member, Mr. Ebubekir Şahin became the President of the Supreme Council with the election held on 23 January 2019. He was re-elected on 18 October 2023, and has served his fourth term as President of RTÜK. Mr. Ebubekir Şahin is married and has two children. He speaks English.
Mr. Ebubekir Şahin succeeds Mr. Ümit Önal, who was appointed the President of Cyber Security by the presidential decree dated 24 October 2025.
In May 2024, Türk Telekom issued its first Sustainable Eurobond in an aggregate amount of U.S.$500 million and a maturity date in 2029. In October 2025, Türk Telekom issued a green Eurobond in the amount of U.S.$600 million and maturing in 2032. The bond was rated BB (being one notch above the sovereign's rating) and BB- (being equal to the sovereign's rating) by S&P and Fitch, respectively.
