Transport for London – expansion to District line

Cordel Group PLC has secured a new contract with Transport for London (TfL) to expand its infrastructure monitoring services to the District Line, building on a prior partnership for the Central Line. This expansion will involve a new LiDAR installation and will enable TfL project engineers to conduct pre- and post-works assessments remotely via the Cordel Connect platform, as well as generate Station Platform gauging reports. Cordel's AI technology has also been enhanced with a new absolute accuracy location capability for tunnels, which can be deployed globally. This follow-on work signifies a commitment to a long-term, value-driven collaboration between the two entities. Disclaimer*

About this update from Cordel Group Plc

13 April 2026 Cordel Group PLC ("Cordel" or the "Company" or the "Group")   Transport for London - expansion to District line Cordel Group PLC (AIM: CRDL), the Artificial Intelligence platform for transport corridor analytics, is pleased to announce a new contract, building on our established track innovation partnership with Transport for London (TfL). TfL is a local government body responsible for most of the transport network in London, United Kingdom. The underlying services are provided by a mixture of wholly owned subsidiary companies, principally London Underground Limited.   On 24 September 2025, Cordel announced a partnership with TfL to digitise infrastructure monitoring for greater efficiency. Data was captured along the Central Line via a Cordel LiDAR unit installed on a London Underground train, automatically uploading to Cordel's Artificial Intelligence (AI) software. Cordel delivered track and structure gauging throughout, plus ballast profiling and vegetation volume measurement in the substantial above-ground areas. Cordel also took the opportunity to develop a new location capability for their LiDAR and AI technology, going beyond previous limitations to relative accuracy in tunnels. This innovative development delivered absolute accuracy in TfL's long tunnels in the deep tube and can now be rolled out for underground railway applications worldwide. TfL's new contract with Cordel expands coverage to the District Line via a new Cordel LiDAR installation on a London Underground engineering vehicle. One key use case is for TfL project engineers to establish whether they can make pre- and post-works assessments on the Cordel Connect data management platform, without the need to go to site. Cordel will also produce Station Platform gauging reports, for comparison with existing manual methods. Both parties reinforce their commitment to leverage the outcomes of the partnership to create a long-term, value-driven collaboration. London Underground's acting Head of Track Asset Performance and Delivery, Ian Rawlings, said, "We are excited about what Cordel has delivered so far and we look forward establishing where technologies such as Cordel's data capture and AI can be most effectively deployed. We are targeting key challenges in safety and asset management, particularly in the deep tube environment, and we plan to identify which challen...
