Tokyo Century to Establish a Joint Venture for the Corporate Solar PPA Business in the Philippines

To Support Decarbonization of Japanese Companies Through Collaboration with MSpectrum and JFE Engineering

Tokyo Century Corporation ("Tokyo Century") has decided to establish a joint venture, MSpectrum Taiyo Inc. (tentative name; the "Project Company"), scheduled for July 2026, to operate a corporate solar PPA business in the Philippines. This initiative will be undertaken jointly with MSpectrum Inc. ("MSpectrum"), a subsidiary of the Philippines' largest electric power distributor Manila Electric Company (Meralco), and JFE Engineering Corporation ("JFE Engineering").

In the Philippines, the demand for introducing renewable energy is growing against the backdrop of increasing electricity demand driven by economic growth. Under this project, MSpectrum, which has an extensive track record in local solar EPC and PPAs, will handle the construction and operation of the facilities. JFE Engineering, leveraging its advanced technical capabilities both in Japan and overseas, will provide technical advice and construction monitoring. Tokyo Century will drive sales and proposal activities for Japanese companies by utilizing its domestic and local networks. Focusing primarily on Japanese companies operating in the Philippines, the project aims to achieve a cumulative installed capacity of 50 MW by 2030.

As the first initiative, the Project Company plans to introduce a solar power generation system (panel capacity: 1,461 kW) to Yakult Philippines, Inc.'s second plant on Mindanao Island. MSpectrum has already signed the contract and is currently proceeding with the construction, which will be transferred to the Project Company after its establishment. As part of the Yakult Group's initiatives to promote decarbonization and reduce environmental impact, the project is expected to supply approximately

2.03 million kWh of renewable energy annually, contributing to reducing CO2 emissions and transitioning to clean energy at the plant.

Tokyo Century strives to create a sustainable society under its Purpose, "Shaping Our Blue Planet." To date, it has supported the introduction of solar power generation systems for Japanese companies in the ASEAN region, including the Philippines, by leveraging the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM)* and through other initiatives. With its full-scale entry into the Corporate Solar PPA Business, Tokyo Century aims to enhance its presence in the Philippine market. Under a robust collaborative framework with its partner companies, it will contribute to the further expansion of renewable energy in the Philippines and the realization of a sustainable society.
