Executive General Manager Home Claims Customers Alli Smith said the insurer has been closely monitoring weather conditions and flood levels across Queensland and the Northern Territory from its Brisbane Disaster Management Centre.
"This week, the region experienced its worst flooding in years, with river levels remaining elevated across Central and Wide Bay Queensland," Ms Smith said.
"Our thoughts are with the communities impacted, including in the Wide Bay region where there has been a tragic loss of life."
Role, Name
Our immediate priority is the safety of our customers. Our assessors and builders are on the ground and our Mobile Disaster Response Hubs will be deployed in Bundaberg from Saturday, providing customers with face-to
face support to lodge and progress claims, access immediate assistance and receive guidance on available recovery options.
As of 13 March, the insurer had received about 480 claims related to the severe weather, with more than 400 concerning homes. The areas with the highest number of claims include Gladstone, Bundaberg, and Mackay.
"Customers in these areas have received SMS messages with advice and links to helpful resources," Ms Smith said.
"Affected customers can lodge their claims online for all our insurance brands.
"Our contact centres are available 24/7 to support those impacted.
"The sooner you contact us, the sooner we can begin the recovery process.
"If your home is damaged, you don't need to wait for an insurance assessor to begin cleaning up.
"When it is safe to do so, we encourage customers to remove wet contents, linen, and carpets, and keep their home as well-ventilated as possible.
"Please take photos of all damage - this will help us process your claim."

- Ensure there are no safety risks before entering your property. Only return once emergency services have given the all-clear. If water has entered your property, do not turn on electricity until inspected by a licensed electrician.
- You don't need to wait for an insurance assessor to come to begin cleaning up. Make a list and take photos of damaged items, including model numbers, to help us replace them.
- To help prevent mould, remove wet carpets, rugs and furniture as soon as possible. Increase airflow using air conditioners (set to dry mode), dehumidifiers, or open windows where safe.
