Announcement on Update of the Effects of the Earthquake
Centered in Hyuga-nada, Miyazaki Prefecture
We would like to inform you of an updated status of the impact of the earthquake that occurred on August 8, 2024 on SUMCO Group.
The Miyazaki Plant of SUMCO TECHXIV CORPORATION, our manufacturing subsidiary, is located in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, where the earthquake measuring 5 upper on the Japanese seismic scale struck, but no human casualties and serious damage to the buildings and manufacturing facilities were reported.
Immediately after the earthquake, operations were suspended in some processes to conduct safety inspections, quality checks, and repair work, but production resumed in phases from August 10, with product shipment as usual.
We believe that the impact of the earthquake on our financial performance will be minor. However, we will promptly disclose any material impact that is expected in the future.
We will continue to deliver high-quality silicon wafers for semiconductors to our customers around the world with safety as our top priority.
