TSXV: SFR VANCOUVER, June 6 /CNW/ - Starfire Minerals Inc. (TSXV: SFR) has commenced fieldwork on the Capri uranium prospect near Grand Remous, Quebec. To date field studies have relocated old mineralized trends explored and drilled during the 1960-70s, and have also delineated a previously unmapped (new) zone. The new zone records anomalously high scintillometer readings over approximately 100m long and 3m wide peaking at 36,000 cps. The spectrometer showed the readings to have uranium-thorium ratios of about 4:1 in this new area. The current radiometric survey so far reveals two more anomalous zones with scintillometer readings between 200 and 400 cps. The background values in this area are about 40-50 cps. Trenching and rock sampling for chemical analysis are underway to determine the uranium and thorium values. Recent fieldwork within the area drilled in the 1960-70s (19 holes) has also returned anomalous scintillometer values between 200 and 350 cps peaking at about 4,000 cps. The background values in this area are about 40-50 cps. Trenching and sampling is also being conducted in the previously mapped and drilled areas in order to confirm past exploration work and results at these locations. The five person technical team on site for the review includes F. Yacoub, P.Geo., D. Mark, P.Geo., A. Ciesielski, PhD, P.Geo., S. Jackson, PhD and F. Smith, P.Geo.
