TSXV: SFR VANCOUVER, Dec. 23 /CNW/ - At a result of a review by the British Columbia Securities Commission we are issuing the following press release to clarify our disclosure. In its August 12 and December 12, 2005 news releases, Starfire Minerals disclosed estimates of uranium grade based solely on spectrometer readings. In its June 6, 2005 news release, the company also uses spectrometer readings to estimate uranium/thorium ratios. The company wishes to clarify that these estimates are not supported by current sample data. The company uses spectrometer surveys as a prospecting tool to identify areas of potential uranium and thorium mineralization. While there is some positive correlation between measured radioactivity and uranium grade, a definitive relationship has yet to be established for the Cross-Structure property. As a result, spectrometer readings cannot be used to reliably and consistently predict uranium and thorium grades. The company retracts these estimates and cautions the public not to rely on them. The technical reports prepared for Starfire Minerals Inc. on their Cross Structure and Capri uranium properties in Quebec have been amended to comply with National Instrument Form 43-101F1 and are being reposted on Sedar. The following details clarify our disclosure from the press release dated December 12, 2005. CROSS-STRUCTURE PROPERTY Previous geological works in 1977 on two pegmatite dykes revealed anomalous uranium values. It was the results from the previous works that attracted the company to the property area. The December 12th press release stated a preliminary mineralized volume calculation with tons and grades based on a historical scintillometer survey that could not be verified by this year's exploration program and was not 43-101 compliant. The company considers these estimates to be exploration targets that are conceptual in nature. There has been insufficient exploration on these targets to define a mineral resource and it is uncertain if further exploration will result in the discovery of a mineral resource. 2005 Exploration Program The 2005 exploration program on the property mapped and sampled the known main U-bearing pegmatite dyke that trends northeast crosscutting the granite gneiss host rock. Unexpected gold values distributed in pegmatite phases are not correlative with either uranium or thorium and are as high in the concordant pegmatite dykes as in the crosscutting U-bearing pegmatite dykes. Gold may occur as free native grains and does not appear to be associated with sulphides. The assay results include 17 saw cut channel samples over widths from one to three metres. Nine of the 17 samples returned low values for gold ranging from 0.19 to 0.62 grams / tonne and uranium values between 5 to 190 ppm uranium. The samples were taken from 3 outcrop exposures over a distance of about 1.5 km that are part of a continuous northeast-trending pegmatite structure showing an estimated width of about 10 m. Several of the samples listed below in Table 1 are considered anomalous. The continuity of pegmatite dykes provides Starfire with an exploration target that can be traced on surface and may provide through further exploration samples of higher-grade. Samples were tested at SGS Lakefield Research Limited in Lakefield, Ontario an ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory. << Table 1: Assay results from Cross-Structure Property, Quebec (modified from November 7, 2005 Press Release). ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sample Sample Uranium Gold (g/t) Number UTM East UTM North Length (ppm) ICP Fire Assay ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L6 544185 5572038 1.2m 190 0.44 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L7 544188 5572055 1m 140 0.47 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L8 544242 5572107 0.9m 68 0.21 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L9 544239 5572107 0.8m 35 0.53 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L10 544238 5572107 0.5m 35 0.62 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L11 544241 5572111 1.2m 77 0.53 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L12 544264 5572135 1.8m 69 0.19 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L13 543851 5571367 1.7m 5 0.54 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L14 543847 5571347 1.2m 38 0.24 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L15 543843 5571305 1.5m 54 less than 0.02 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- R1 544172 5572005 2.0m 65 0.05 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- R2 544172 5572007 2.0m 38 0.02 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- R3 544173 5572009 2.0m 70 less than 0.02 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- R4 544174 5572012 2.0m 54 less than 0.02 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- R5 544175 5572014 2.0m 87 less than 0.02 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- R6 544174 5572016 2.0m 110 less than 0.02 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- R7 544192 5572045 3.0m 96 less than 0.02 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This press release was reviewed and verified by A.
