More about the ISMS(TM) patented technology...
The ISMS(TM) product features in-flight data-analysis, and monitoring
with a real-time connection between aircraft and ground. Unlike a Black Box,
this technology is proactive and monitors an aircrafts' systems as the
aircraft flies.
The ISMS(TM) picks up data from various data-buses (data points within
the aircraft) analyzes the data, checks for exceedances from the manufacturer
preset norms (and when required the Aircraft operators preset norms) and
constantly trend monitors the information comparing it against the norm or
laid levels.
All the data is processed into English readable information, transmitted
via Satcom and Data Radio to Star's ground station and sends an alert if a
problem is anticipated or an incident has occurred. This enables the airlines
personnel to monitor the aircraft via the Internet and to suggest a course of
action to be taken. If there are no alerts or no abnormalities, then no one
needs to be informed. However, an end of flight report along with other
pertinent reports are automatically generated and sent to predetermined
departments and/or individuals for their review.
In case of an emergency or when there is an alert, the ground station
will notify the pre-designated individuals or departments of that airline via
a pager, SMS-text message, and email or by phone of the situation. From
anywhere in the world, via Internet, that person's input can be put to good
use in avoiding a possible crisis situation.
Current legacy systems inform pilots of an incident after it happens
which is "reactive" but the Star system is constantly hunting for differences,
sudden changes from the norm in the form of spikes or alerts as a proactive
tool, not reactive.
