Stantec : appointed to support delivery of Palau Renewable Energy Integration

About this update from Stantec Inc
Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been appointed by the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) to provide client-side project management services for the Palau Renewable Energy Integration Project, supporting a more resilient, reliable, and lower-emissions energy system for Palau. The project will strengthen and modernize Palau's electricity network to support the safe and efficient integration of more renewable energy, build on existing solar infrastructure, and reduce reliance on imported diesel generation. The grant-funded program is expected to include staged grid upgrades, network and control system modifications, and planning for future battery storage to improve system stability and enable greater use of renewable energy. A Pacific partnership supporting the energy transition The Palau Renewable Energy Integration Project is designed to maximize the value of energy generated by the country's solar facility, with the goal of supplying up to 25 percent of Palau's electricity demand from renewable sources while improving reliability, reducing emissions, and strengthening long-term energy security. It reflects Australia's regional climate leadership in the Pacific, supporting clean energy goals ahead of its role as co-host of COP31. Under its appointment, Stantec will provide client-side project management and technical advisory services across the project life cycle, coordinate delivery, manage interfaces, and guide the program through key implementation stages. Drawing on specialized teams in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, the company will provide project management, power systems engineering, grid integration, and renewable energy strategies to support the project's technical complexity and successful delivery. "Our team's partnerships with AIFFP and Palau is a step toward a more flexible and responsive energy system for the island," said Tilman Thrum, market leader for Energy & Power at Stantec. "When you understand local conditions and align generation, storage, and the grid, you create a system that performs more reliably, especially in island environments like Palau."
