There are currently around 2.1 million listings live on tutti.ch, with almost 28'000 items being offered for free. A recent analysis by the classifieds platform shows that "free" is by far the most searched-for term on the platform. And free listings find new owners twice as quickly as the average listing on tutti.ch.
What is no longer needed in one household may be exactly what someone else is looking for. A recent analysis by tutti.ch shows that many people in Switzerland prefer to give away items that are still in good condition rather than dispose of them. There are currently 2'131'495 listings live on the classifieds platform, including 27'986 free treasures waiting to be collected. Most of these can currently be found in the Household, Garden & DIY, and Baby & Child categories.
Passing on items that are still in good condition through an online marketplace such as tutti.ch is an easy way to free up space at home, with several benefits. In most categories, users can have up to 50 listings live at the same time free of charge. Having unwanted items collected also saves the effort involved in transporting and disposing of them. And, last but not least, used items get a second life with new owners.
Free is the most searched-for term
The large number of free items available on tutti.ch is matched by strong demand, as users' search behaviour shows. "Free" has been the most searched-for term on tutti.ch by a wide margin for years, with users entering it in the platform's search field an average of once per minute. The next four most frequent search terms are "sofa", "moped", "caravan" and "tractor".
Free listings find new owners twice as quickly
The average duration of free listings on tutti.ch also shows just how popular free finds are in Switzerland. Items offered for free remain online for an average of 10 days before being deactivated, suggesting that they go on to find a new home and a new use. By comparison, the average duration of all listings on tutti.ch is 20.5 days.
"The fact that free listings on tutti.ch find new owners around twice as quickly as other listings shows just how established the culture of giving things away is in Switzerland. We want to continue making these exchanges as easy and safe as possible, while continuously improving the platform wherever it benefits our users," says Priska Cavelti, CMO of General Marketplaces at SMG Swiss Marketplace Group.
Methodology
The analysis covered listings with an asking price of CHF 0.00 and searches conducted on tutti.ch between 01/01/2026 and 15/08/2026.
